Project presentation in the field
The planned environmental actions of the CASTOR project were recently presented as part of an international educational initiative at the Evrotas River.
The scientific coordinator of the project and Research Associate at HCMR, Dr. Leonidas Vardakas, analyzed the objectives and implementation plan of CASTOR. The presentation included an on-site inspection of the selected field locations where the interventions will be applied, providing participants with the opportunity to study environmental planning under real-world conditions.
This specific activity took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) and the University of Plymouth.
The educational programme, which concludes on May 2nd, is attended by 22 undergraduate Environmental Science students and 3 lecturers, under the coordination of Dr. T. Murphy. Participants are being trained in practical methodologies concerning water quality parameter analysis, the study of macroinvertebrates and the dynamics of riparian vegetation.
